Do not revile the king even in your thoughts,
or curse the rich in your bedroom,
Ecclesiastes 10:20

I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone: for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.
1 Timothy 2:1-2

Recently I have had to work on honoring my leaders. I have disagreed with a lot of the recent government actions, and every day adds to the disagreeable responses to the economy and to businesses and to everything else. But I need to turn off the news and pray. In reality, unless you are an elected official, you don’t have a say in what happens. You can write to your congress man or woman, but that’s the extent of it.

You can obey the Bible though. Pray for your leaders that you may live in peace. Don’t abuse your President or government leaders with your words of thoughts. Pray.

I think this command is effective for both parties: your heart can be changed, and the power of God is at work in the lives of our leaders.
