White as Snow

The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world.

John 1:9

Tulsa finally received its first snowfall of the year. I love snow. Growing up in Canada and then moving to the United States a number of years ago, I still miss the snowfalls that were commonplace every winter. I love the beauty and the purity of freshly fallen snow. I love how bright and brilliant it is, and when it covers the world, all our dirt and commonplace articles are covered over, and join in the brightness and light of winter.

I don’t wonder that when we see Jesus face to face we will be blow away by His brightness. Just walking in the sunshine after a snow fall, the brilliance of the white light is enough to blind. But the glory of pure light… no darkness at all… brighter than the sun, purer than the sun, whiter than the snow… such light we have never known.

His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow.

Matthew 28:3

His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire.

Revelation 1:14

The wonder of the miracle of Jesus is that we, dirty as we are, are cleansed by His blood to become whiter than the snow. Just like Jesus.

“Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red as crimson,
they shall be like wool.”

Isaiah 1:18

Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;
wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.

Psalm 51:7
