Just outside of my hotel was the place that the women’s marathon completed a couple of loops. I walked up to watch and found a hole to see by the jib. I watched and cheered and photographed during one loop through. I saw the media truck drive by and the two helicopters before the first runners passed, and I stayed until the very last runner went by. In between the last runner and the runner before her was about a twenty minute wait, but that last runner probably got almost as big a cheer as the first runner did. Marathons are incredible feats in my mind, and even just getting to the Olympics and running a marathon is amazing and worth cheering for. Plus, she was limping and she kept on running. Good on her.
