Your Power to Act

Jan 21, 2009 | Blog, Christianity

There are many times when it is easy to look the other way. When someone asks for help, you ignore it thinking that someone will help them, that it doesn’t have to be you, personally. The Bible has something to say about what to do when the opportunity arises.

Do not withhold good from those who deserve it,
when it is in your power to act.
Do not say to your neighbor, “Come back later; I’ll give it tomorrow”–
when you now have it with you.

Proverbs 3:27-28

That verse challenges me every time I read it. Am I withholding good from others? Am I shirking my ability to help, when I have the power to act? I pray that God would give me eyes to see the places that I can help and bring good to others. I pray for the wisdom to do the right thing, whenever I have the opportunity.
