Ireland Vacation

Our trip to Ireland started with airplane problems. We booked our trip from Dallas to Atlanta to Dublin. The plane out of Dallas needed repairs though, and the flight was repeatedly delayed. We were having problems getting booked onto other flights: they were very full. We ended up with the following itinerary: Dallas to Memphis to Amsterdam to Dublin.

Before even getting on a plane we had already traveled four hours to Dallas in our car. We left home at 6:45 a.m. on May 2nd, and finally arrived in Dublin at 1:30 p.m. (Dublin time) on May 3rd. What a day! We flew American Airlines, Delta, and Aer Lingus. We did make it though the break in the volcanic ash clouds. We made it to Ireland. Unfortunately, Josh checked his bag and it did not make it.

We drove across Ireland to the east and arrived at Ashford Castle. It is fantastic! It is just what a castle should be, with a moat and turrets and beautiful grounds. I love it. It is really nice inside, too. There is a sitting room that was built for King George V when he was the Prince of Wales and stayed here for a month, called the Prince of Wales room in his honor.
