Seattle 2013

Jun 1, 2013 | Travel

Josh and I traveled to Seattle for a few days before boarding our Celebrity Cruise to Alaska. We stayed at The Fairmont Olympic Hotel in downtown Seattle. We really love the Fairmont brand, the hotels are always classy and the beds are soft. We’ve discovered that we only really enjoy our vacations if we get a good night’s sleep every night, and we love soft beds.

StarbucksWe walked down to the Pike Place Market, of course, as you have to do when you are visiting Seattle. We saw the first Starbucks, which doesn’t look like any of the other Starbucks. We saw the fish market, and the absolutely gorgeous flowers. We also walked through several of the small stores, including a really cool tea and spices one, with all the teas and spices in glass jars along the walls, covered in custom drawn labels.

Our next stop was the plaza around the Space Needle. We went to the EMP Museum, which is a rock & roll/pop culture museum. It was very unique. DSC_1216They are home to the Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame which is why we visited. We were in for a special treat also because one of their special sections right now is a Fantasy exhibit. I think that was my favorite part, especially since you have to open this very magical looking door in order to enter the exhibit.

DSC_1233Next we visited Chihuly Garden and Glass. It was fantastic. There were a lot of beautiful pieces, as well as a collection of films about various exhibitions Chihuly had done around the world. There was also a garden that featured glass and plants in harmony.
